Snorkel Masks Foundmentals – What You Need To Know
The first concern for many is figuring out how to place the snorkel mask on the head. Diving goggles generally have an adjustable strap that goes through a slot on the frame of the mask and doubles returning on itself. You'll find tiny ridges on the strap that kind of snaps into place and prevent any slipping. It's a bit of a process to get the right adjustment of the band when you wear the mask, take it off to adjust it, then put it on again, take it off, readjust, then put it on again and so on till you reach the right position. A couple of things are essential to note: first, upon having the strap size properly adjusted, you should not need any more modifications. And second, do not adjust the strap too firm.
There is a tendency to put that snorkel mask to your face as tightly as possible. In the end, it will be preserving the ocean away from your face. In fact, goggles are made to fit comfortably with only reasonable tension on the band. If you have an appropriate size mask you won't have to turn up the tension on the strap a lot. The fact is, you will be able to vary the rigidity on the mask to your face by controlling ventilation very fairly with your nose.
You might encounter fogging. The task of retaining your snorkel mask clear can be a tough one. If fogging becomes a challenge when you are snorkelling, you might just have to tread water for a second while you take off, clean and refit your mask and snorkel.
Your snorkel generally attaches to the band with a small double o-ring system that loops around the strap and enables the snorkel to pass through one of the rings. This is a fairly easy connection, however it works. You can get fancier versions available that basically achieve the same thing. You need to make sure that your snorkel is adjusted so the top of the hose is above the water. If the hose is under the water, you will not be able to breathe! You might need to reach over to the back of your head and alter as required, giving the tip of your snorkel the most amount of clearance possible.
Question about a dual exhaust and a new muffler?
I was thinking of getting a blastin bobs dual exhaust which states it has 2.25 inch tubing. I also wanted to get a new flowmaster 44 muffler. Does the flowmaster 44 muffler have to have 2.25 inches as well, or smaller, or bigger than 2.25? and does the new flowmaster muffler have to have the same in(offset)/out(offset) as my stock muffler or does it have to be a in(offset)/out(center) for a dual exhaust? Thanks
the muffler needs to be 2.25" inside diameter, that way the muffler will slide over your front pipe, the muffler probably should be a offset on the inlet side and a center outlet and it should work fine.
BMC Trailfox TF01 review (Bike Radar)
This latest carbon fiber incarnation of the BMC Trailfox is designed to be a
Swiss Army knife of a bike, with trail-friendly geometry and a sub-25lb weight
that belies its 150mm of rear travel. For lighter riders, its low weight and
pedalling stability make it one of the best all-rounders we’ve ridden.
UK pricing is competitive because Evans Cycles sell direct rather than through
dealers – a Shimano XT based build is £4,000, with a lighter SRAM X0 option at
£4,500. US riders must dig deeper into their pockets, though, with the Shimano
XTR equipped bike shown here costing a whopping $8,500. That makes the frame
flex and chain growth issues we've identified hard to stomach, especially for
larger or more aggressive riders.
**Ride & handling: Light and efficient (for a 150mm bike) – maybe too light
for bigger riders**
Since we first tested a Trailfox back in 2008, every new version has felt
better. This full-carbon chassis is the lightest so far – our size large test
bike tipped the scales at a hair under 25lb – and you can feel the benefit on
climbs and in acceleration. Frame weight is about 5.5lb (including ...
