Dental Treatments- Taking Care of Your Teeth and Gums

There are many types of dental treatments offered by dentists Melbourne specialists. You may not always require every kind of treatment. It is however, essential to choose a dentist who can provide you with a comprehensive set of service options. This is simply because you can never tell at what point in your life you will need a particular kind of treatment.

Restorative Dentistry

Tooth decay can happen to anyone. In fact, most people can have some degree of decay. Fortunately restorative dentistry can provide a solution to the problem of tooth decay. The most common restorative tools are composite fillings and inlays. Composite fillings require removal of part of the damaged tooth so filling that matches teeth color can be put in. Inlays require very minimal removal and involve the installation of impressions made of porcelain or precious metals. Both these modern methods can replace the old solution of using amalgam fillings.

Preventive Steps

Some restorative procedures are not necessary if only people took preventive measures seriously. Since many people take these for granted, good dentists should be able to provide tips and advice that will delay or stop the onset of decay and gum disease. Some aspects that dentists can cover are smoking, gum care, oral cleanliness and diet. These can all affect teeth and gum health in some way.

Cosmetic Dentistry

This is another common dental treatment. There are several ways to help you get a brighter and more attractive smile. A major part of cosmetic procedures however is teeth whitening. You can always buy over the counter trays, gels and whitening agents. A qualified dentist however is still the best authority on safe and effective whitening. If you don’t want your teeth to have uneven coloring, you should only use trays that are specifically made to fit only your teeth.

Implant Procedure

People lose teeth for many different reasons. Having missing teeth can affect not just the way you eat, but your self-esteem as well. A good dentist should offer options for implant installation. Before suggesting implant dental treatments though, an excellent dentist should first be able to evaluate the health of your gums before installing a specific type of implant. Depending on your oral health, an implant may not be for you.

Facial Pain

A lot of people are unaware that teeth and gum problems can extend beyond the oral cavity. Some conditions can be so serious that facial nerves and muscles can be affected. One complaint of people who suffer from TMJ disorder or bruxism for example is pain on certain parts of the face. Dentists should be able to give relief to patients who complain about facial pain.

Dentists have to know the best dental treatments by heart. This is the only way you can ever feel confident about finding an appropriate solution for your specific dental problem.

Strange Implant- Dental implants?

I've had two implants previously placed on my left hand side. I'm now healing from the second stage process.
I've just had my first stage completed for my tooth next to my front tooth. Now the problem i'm having is that you can see the screw. It looks to me like the stitches which were binding the pieces of tissue together to hide the screw dissolved too quickly and the tissue has folded back to reveal the screw. I know you're not supposed to see the screw and now my gum looks a bit mis shaped. I saw my dentist who done the procedure on wednesday which was two weeks after the operation and he said it was fine. However I'm not sure whether the screw was visible or not at the time as I hadn't looked. Will it be ok? Or what are my options?
Oh and i'm talking about if I put a small mirror in my mouth and look up. Not the screw coming through the side of my gum. The problem is underneath.

There are two different techniques used and one is where the implant end is hidden under the gum and then the other is where a more superficial technique is used. I have four implants and two were hidden and the other two were a different type and it was exposed in the same manner yours our.

It is something to do with the different healing and healing caps of whatever and I can promise you that when the whole implant is finished and the crown part is added the result will be brilliant and you will see nothing of what you are seeing now. I expect it may even be a double tooth with the different finish I know there was something with the reasons behind mine.
