Today's Careers And Global Competition

Getting ready to launch a career is important, and making the wrong decisions while preparing yourself for a career can have long-lasting effects. You probably do not want to spend several years studying home decor accents only to graduate and realize there is no market for it. Now, more than ever, it is important to consider how technology has impacted the job market and how it will impact you when you start looking for work.

Mainly because big companies have moved a lot of their operations abroad. These are mostly entry-level positions that can easily be done over the phone or through the computer. This helps a company cut its costs, and improves efficiency. While this may be great for a company, it is bad for its home economy and all of the potential workers it could have employed.

Keep in mind, most jobs that can be handled through technology such as computers and phones are sent offshore. In order to avoid getting stuck in rut try going after a career that can not be sent overseas, no matter how brilliant the outsourced competition may be. These types of jobs include professions that have to be done in person.

Teachers, doctors and nurses are some examples of careers that are always in high demand. These are high-demand jobs regardless of the advances of technology. These are professions that have to be done in person, and can not be substituted with computer technology. Since competition is now at a global level, and no longer regional, you have to set your preparation standards much high as well.

Needless to say, the careers of the future are not beginner-level positions. You will need to train yourself with some sort of degree in order to keep up with the ever-tightening competition. Prior to the advent of the internet, you did not have to worry about global competition, but now you do.

You no longer have the option of wearing a black helmet and making pretend your competition does not exist. If you do this, you are greatly decreasing your chances for success. So let the demands of the future shape the decisions you make today.

Tighter competition means you can not idly play your dreadnought acoustic guitar all day long. This fierce, new competitive work force means you have to prepare yourself to your maximum potential. Factor in the demands of this new work-force, but do not forget to incorporate your interests as well. Finding a job that is in high-demand, and one that you enjoy is the recipe for a satisfied career choice.

Good degree that would pay well? healthcare, business,enviornment,engineer.......?

I was a medic in the Navy for 6 years and now that Iam out, I am going to school... heres the thing. I am going to school for either nursing or PA (physician assistant) but now Iam questioning if i want to go through with it...I dont know if i would it enjoy it and now iam asking myself.. well whatelse is there out there.. I would go for business, but people keep on telling me that the economy sucks and that it is not a good idea, even if i specialize (human resource, international,finance,etc).. I guess i just dont know what i want to be when i grow up and im here for some directions, im open...i would love a career that works outside (out of the office more than at least 40% of the time) but that gets a decent pay and job security.

A physicians assistant provides a very good salary.
