How is it the Catholics have a pope, whereas the Protestants have only assorted bishops or whatnot?

Protestantism is just a gaggle of ad hoc religious committees called churches, most of them started by that weirdo M. Luther who wanted most of all to delete the Epistle of James from bible, but couldn't acquire the necessary two thirds connivance from the rest of his ilk...
I'm not a Catholic. But at least they got a Pope and some cathedrals and stuff like that. What the hell do the Protestants have? What? Yeah okay they got the Holy Creationism Museum and that Institute of Church Science, big freakin deal. What else?

the protestants had the royal family of england, either the ruling king or queen as their head . they still have on the english coinage the words. "fide def." meaning . 'defender of the faith.'
however the way that the protestant religion has exploded into nearly 40,000 denominations, the leaders are now irrelevant as shown by the recent anglican synods , the queen was not even present
